FAQ's

What is Civic Animal?

Civic Animal was created due to the creator's frustration with various aspects of other user-generated news websites, such as confusing, complicated layouts, annoying advertisements and site-sponsored SPAM. Civic Animal is currently being run as a nonprofit and is providing this service at no cost because open and free discussion of public events, politics, religion, ethics, etc. is necessary for democracy to be realized and for individuals to realize they are part of a human collective wherein every member has something to contribute. Our hosting service is being donated by a wonderful, philanthropic individual who shall remain nameless, but this would not be possible for free without their contribution, so thank you, friend!

How does one contribute articles to Civic Animal?

Just create a user account using the "create a new account" link to the right and start contributing.

What if I find offensive material and/or SPAM has been posted or a particular member is being offensive?

Contributed content, comments and member profiles can be flagged. Three flags will alert the site administrator and the content/member will be reviewed.

Why don't you allow users to post pictures and videos with their stories?

This website is being provided for free and with absolutely no advertising, for now. Therefore, we are limited on server space and graphics take up a lot of server room. Depending on the response, we can reconsider in the future.

How do I change my notification settings?

Click on "My Account" in the menu at the top left corner, click on the tab titled "My Watched Posts" and click on the "Settings" link.

What if I want to add another "news group"?

Just send an email to admin@civicanimal.com and we will be happy to add another group.

What if I have a problem or suggestions on how to improve the website?

Just send an email to admin@civicanimal.com and we will be happy to consider your request. This website was built on a Drupal platform, so there are lots of contributed modules we can add.
